Working towards the definition of interregional investment projects on textile innovation, circular economy, digitalization, as well as creative and design-based innovation.
It took place in Bruxelles on February 27th the annual RegioTex Event coordinated by Euratex, the Creativewear partner in Belgium. RegioTex is one of many supporters for the so-called INTERREG Component 5 funding instrument which is proposed to be added to the regional policy support programme for the period 2021-2027.
This year meeting has been structured in a series of interactive workshops during which the RegioTex stakeholders from the participating regions worked out the details of “interregional investment projects” to be financed using an expected new EU structural funds instrument called Interreg Component 5, which should become available after 2020.
The RegioTex initiative of 15 textile regions in 10 EU countries is currently working towards the definition of such interregional investment projects on textile innovation incl. circular economy, digitalisation, technical and smart textiles as well as creative and design-based innovation.
4 strategic areas have been defined to identify possible project ideas:
- Sustainatbility & circular economy
- Digitalisation & industry 4.0
- Technical & smart textiles
- Design and creativity-based innovation
CreativeWear Hub, Hubs network and Project Model concepts could represent an interesting project contents for the 4th strategic area. The idea is to define real investment projects in which private sector stakeholders and regional public authorities co-invest in infrastructures and programmes to support innovation, technology transfer, education and training. Typical examples include technology & training centres, demo/pilot plants, fab or maker labs etc.
